The Town currently operates a conventional activated sludge facility located on 24 North Street with a permitted average daily design flow of 1.0 million gallons per day (MGD) and the treated effluent is discharged into the Hudson River. The treatment plant was initially constructed in 1969 by the Town and is located on a 4.8 acre site, surrounded on the north and east by residential properties. The Town has an estimated population of 15,500 people and in the 2010 census Stony Point had a population of 15,095.

As part of continuing to best serve our community, the Town of Stony Point is working on cleaning and inspecting sewer lines.  Part of this regular maintenance involves jetting lines in order to prevent backups into homes or into the environment.  In some instances, especially in some older homes, this can lead to water feeding back into your homes.  To prevent this, a check valve should be installed on the street side of your home’s wastewater trap.  Installation of such a device should be done by a licensed plumber.
